What the provincial framework changes
British Columbia’s Sewerage System Regulation requires an authorized person to plan, construct or supervise most onsite sewerage-system work covered by the regulation, with filings made to the health authority before construction and certification after completion.
The practical result is that a septic decision cannot be separated from the property record. The applicable authority may need a permit, registration, filing, notification, approval or certified professional depending on the province and project.

Maintenance filePumping, service, alarms, repairs and treatment-unit maintenance.
Property fileWater supply, easements, setbacks, lot changes and future construction plans.
